The Burke Center received the 2011 American Psychiatric Association Psychiatric Services Gold Award.

In 2012, Dr. Shiekh returned to private practice for adult, outpatient psychiatry, offering psychiatric medication management, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), and psychotherapy (individual, couples, and family).

Since it’s FDA approval in 2019, Dr. Shiekh has been a Spravato (esketamine) treatment site.

Practice Philosophy

Dr. Sheikh has always made it his priority to spend the time necessary to understand every patient. A psychiatric diagnosis is a good starting point, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Dr. Shiekh understands that we as human beings are very complex, requiring a diagnosis and treatment plan that fits our unique circumstances. Based upon this, he believes in a psychiatric approach that attempts understanding his patients on many levels: their unique molecular neurobiology, their individual developmental histories, their relationships and their social worlds. In his practice, he strives to draw from many fields and interventions. His training includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, couples and family therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and medication management.
