An anxiety disorder is a condition where an individual experiences nervousness/worry/ fear and/or physical symptoms such as increased heart rate or sweating. It is normal to have anxiety from time to time or in response to situational stressors, but when anxiety interferes with everyday life, ability to function or responses to situations, it is considered a disorder. Some anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and phobias.  

Anxiety disorders can be treated with medication and psychotherapy.
